Catalan architecture studio HABITAN renews a historic apartment in the heart of Barcelona, combining modern design with many beautifully reclaimed and valued vintage items.
75 square meters completely revolutionized in the lay out to give space to a more open and full of natural light. Wooden beams and floor cements blend in perfectly with clean, rational design of space. The old gangway doors, replaced by modern sliding walls, have been retrieved to become part of the bed headboard and add a vintage touch to the bathroom. In the rest of the apartment are chosen light fixtures and white surfaces that, in contrast to the honed concrete floor, give the space a very contemporary look.
In living, the dining-kitchen area and living room are in direct communication. The study is hidden behind a sliding wall that, totally open, allows the living area to become wider. The central kitchen island, designed to fit, also serves as a dining table. Behind the kitchen is the bedroom, furnished with a single bed in the middle of the room. The bathroom, connected directly to the room, is defined by the old retrieved doors that function as partition walls and make the environment in a retro style.
